Foothills ARTSociety presents Vinyʼs Interpretations Foothills ARTSociety presents Vinyʼs Interpretations
" Opening on Sat., May 5th from 1 - 3 pm at the Foothills Gallery is an exhibit
featuring the art of Montreal and Chateaugay resident Esther Vinaric. As a member of
Foothills ARTSociety for a number of years and a long time exhibitor at the annual
Chateaugay Lake Arts Festival, Esther has built up quite a reputation in the area for her
beautifully rendered Decorative Paintings.
" After retiring from her career as a teacher, Esther became interested in
Decorative Painting. She pursued this interest by studying with Decorative Painting
instructors in both the United States and Canada. Esther admits that this new found
interest “soon became my passion.”
" Estherʼs style varies between folk art and mixed media canvas work.
She enjoys finding unusual and whimsical items to paint on. Some of her favorite
antique items have been whiskey barrel staves, creamers and sap buckets. Over the
years she has also painted on a wide array of unique containers, both antique and new,
and is “grateful to have appreciative customers on both sides of the border.”
" Esther is currently a member of the Montreal Area Decorative Painters, The
Society of Decorative Painters in the United States and Foothills ARTSociety. She
attends and teaches classes on a regular basis in Montreal. Estherʼs talent is evident in
her incredible attention to detail and suburb craftsmanship. Using a wide range of
colors and special brushes, she paints her subjects in a realistic but whimsical way. As
she captures the stance of a rooster or a cluster of day lilies, she leaves her signature
on each piece she creates.
" Esther has exhibited in a number of group shows including Juried Exhibits, Artist
in the Garden, Whimsical Women and Mixed Mediacs. “Vinyʼs Interpretations” will be
Estherʼs first solo show. The public is invited to the artist reception on Sat., May 5th
from 1 - 3 pm or to stop at the gallery during open hours, Thurs. & Fri. from 10 - 5 and
Sat. 10 -3 through Sat., June 2nd. Foothills ARTSociety is located at 213 West Main
St., in Malone, across the road from the K-Mart Plaza entrance.
" Foothills is a nonprofit group dedicated to developing artistic awareness and
creativity for all ages, backgrounds and abilities by supporting local artists, inspiring new
talent and bringing visual and performing arts to the community at large. Anyone
interested in the Foothills calendar of upcoming events or in becoming a member can
click on www.foothillsartsociety.com or stop in the gallery during open hours.
Membership in Foothills helps to fund the programs offered throughout the year.

Chateaugay Town Hall Theater shows “The Breakfast Club” Chateaugay Town Hall Theater shows “The Breakfast Club” this Friday, May 11th at 7 PM
The Breakfast Club is a warm, insightful, and very funny look into the inner lives of teenagers. Empire magazine calls it, “A movie for anyone who’s ever had zits!"
John Hughes wrote and directed this quintessential 1980s high school drama featuring the hottest young stars of the decade. Trapped in a day-long Saturday detention in a prison-like school library are Claire, the princess (Molly Ringwald); Andrew, the jock (Emilio Estevez); John, the criminal (Judd Nelson); Brian, the brain (Anthony Michael Hall); and Allison, the basket case (Ally Sheedy). These five strangers begin the day with nothing in common, each bound to his/her place in the high school.
“The Breakfast Club” is 1 h 37 min and is rated R. Anyone 17 and under requires an accompanying parent or adult. General admission is $5 and includes a free small popcorn and soda. This is the perfect movie for anyone who enjoyed ” Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”, “Pretty in pink” and “Sixteen Candles”.
