Barnum Pond

Fishing Holes

Directions to Access Points: From the intersection of Route 458 and Route 30 north of Paul Smiths follow Route 30 south. Continue to Barnum Pond on the right, the access area is road side.

Shoreline Fishing: Shoreline fishing is limited from the access area, however there is a nice rock and additional areas to access shore from Route 30 on the north northeast side of the pond.

Boat access: Cartop boat access is the easiest, but a small boat with a trolling motor or a small outboard would work too. The deepest part of the lake is on the NE corner.  There is not much room for a car to back in a boat without being in the line of traffic, be very careful. Aside from that the pond is very shallow with about a 10 foot max depth. Fish the weeds and grassy area on the southern shore for some of the better productive areas.

Fish Species: Brook trout, bullhead

Special Regulations: Always follow state fishing regulations and be sure to pick up a NYS Freshwater Fishing Guide at your local outfitters or regional NYSDEC office.
